However, if you would feel more prepared, begin thinking about some of the following items as to whether you have them or need to get them:

  • Roughly, how much do you owe total on your student loans?
  • Are these federal or private loans?
  • How much are you paying monthly?
  • Do you know your current interest rates?
  • Do you file your taxes married or single?
  • Do you have any children or dependents?
  • So your total household size is ___?
  • What is roughly your total household yearly income before taxes or the gross amount?
  • Do you have your FAFSA pin number (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)?
  • Have you ever attended a school and withdrew prior to receiving a diploma?
  • Have you ever attended a school that may have closed after receipt of your diploma?
  • Are you a teacher?
  • Do you work for a non-profit?
  • Do you currently have a wage garnishment in place on any student loan debt?
